2022 NC Main Street Champion
Since two thousand nineteen, Michael Carpino of Carpino Investments has made considerable investments in Uptown Eden. He transformed a dilapidated, and quite honestly ugly, former law office building into a thriving coffee shop, with upper story and first floor apartments. The five-story, long-vacant former Central Hotel building has been converted into twenty-seven apartments known as Ray Commons. Another vacant building has been developed into the Uptown Tavern, a popular sports bar. Michael Carpino has been at the forefront of adding downtown living spaces, restaurants and, most importantly, energy to Uptown Eden. Eden had spent decades seeking a developer for its key historic properties. Michael Carpino was the catalyst for record private investment and more than forty housing units being created in uptown. Because of his commitment to Uptown Eden, Michael Carpino is its 2022 Main Street Champion.
