2021 NC Main Street Champions
Mark Koziel, Maryann Koziel, and Kris Schum are the dynamic team of Craft’d, a retail shop specializing in craft beer, wine, and artisan crafts in downtown Morganton.
Mark and Maryann moved to Lake James in April 2019 and opened Craft’d that July. Since arriving, they have created positive change in Morganton. The three quickly began participating in all downtown community events and launched their own special spin on retail promotions for the business. Through their immediate involvement, they shed the moniker of newbies and quickly became engrained in downtown.
Craft’d hosted weekly Virtual Wine Tastings throughout the pandemic that were highly successful, engaging more than 50 people each Friday to explore wines from regions they were unable to visit. Now that Craft’d has reopened, Mark, Maryann, and Kris offer weekly in-person wine tastings, monthly cigar nights, a welcoming atmosphere, and an all-round great vibe.
