Kevin Greer was a defining member of the Hickory community and an integral part of recent downtown development activity. He was a public servant with the City of Hickory for 25 years, ultimately assuming the role of Public Services Director. During his time as director, Kevin focused on downtown projects associated with a local 2014 bond program including street and sidewalk improvements, streetscape projects, local economic development planning initiatives, and the expansion of the local Hickory Trail. Kevin worked closely with members of the Hickory Downtown Development Association to ensure that local Main Street planning was well-represented in the execution of these transformative projects. Kevin attended numerous Downtown Development Association meetings throughout the years, integrated feedback from the Hickory Main Street community, and communicated tirelessly with downtown business owners about ongoing and forthcoming projects.
Unfortunately, Kevin passed in September 2020 after a battle with cancer.
Hickory is humbled to honor Kevin Greer posthumously as a North Carolina Main Street Champion.
