Gavin Mitchell has been acquiring and renovating downtown property in Hickory for more than a decade. His renovated commercial spaces have attracted viable businesses that complement the existing mix of retail, professional, and service companies in the downtown district. Several homes he renovated provide residential opportunities for families looking for an urban lifestyle.
Mr. Mitchell has been the Chairman of the Business Development, Design, and Promotions Committees. He has also served three terms on the Hickory Downtown Development Association (HDDA) Board of Directors, one as Treasurer and two as President.
Mr. Mitchell presents solutions to many challenges. Through his efforts, lights were installed to illuminate dark streets and additional directional signs have been placed. He sponsors the Downtown Art Crawls and contributes 500 Candy Crawl pumpkins for children to decorate.
