2021 NC Main Street Champion
Lisa Hayes has championed Downtown Wake Forest for more than ten years. She previously held the Downtown Development Director role for the Town of Wake Forest before assuming the position of Strategic Performance Manager in January 2021. Lisa was instrumental in starting “Friday Night on White,” a concert series that draws thousands of visitors downtown. The success of this event helped attract new businesses, which has led to increased vibrancy and nightlife. She also founded “Spirits of Wake Forest,” a walking tour that highlights downtown’s haunted history.
In her new role, Lisa continues to support downtown through project management for major town initiatives, such as the SunTrust Site Redevelopment Project. The Town of Wake Forest purchased the former SunTrust building site on Lisa’s recommendation because she wanted to ensure that development at this gateway would meet the Town’s vision and goals. As a result of Lisa's commitment and the relationships she built, Downtown Wake Forest is well positioned for continued growth and vibrancy.
