2023 NC Main Street Champion
John Williams’ involvement with Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation began when he created a logo design for the organization. Over time, John has served on numerous committees and boards, including the Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation, Stanly County Historical Society, Albemarle Historic Resource Commission, Design Committee, and the Holiday Tour of Homes. His participation in these organizations underscores a commitment to the preservation and promotion of downtown Albemarle's historic tradition.
John has also contributed to the restoration of several Albemarle homes and buildings, leaving a lasting impact on the city's architectural heritage. His collaboration on The Boardroom Bar and Bistro earned a Main Street Award during the early 2000’s. John’s next project is the transformation of a 1929 Sinclair Service Station into a home and artist studio. John’s love for art and historic preservation continues to shape the community he holds dear.
