2025 NC Main Street Champion
When Warner Dodson retired from a lifetime of service — first as a military veteran, then as a lineman — slowing down wasn’t an option.
While stationed in California, he was captivated by the old-fashioned trolleys rolling through town, connecting people and stories. Decades later, back home in Mount Airy, he saw something missing — something unique that could add to the town he’d called home for 40 years.
Warner bought an old trolley with trees growing through it, rebuilt it from the ground up, and the Good Time Trolley was born.
“I saw a need for it in town — it’s just the right atmosphere. People are friendly. When folks step on the trolley, I want them to feel like they’ve traveled back in time, to when life was simple, a handshake meant something, and people could relax.”
“There’s something magical about this area,” Warner shared with Mount Airy Downtown Director, adding, People keep coming back several times each year in search of that sweeter place. We welcome people here — we really do. It’s not just a statement. It’s heartfelt.”
Mount Airy is pleased to honor Warner Dodson as its 2025 Main Street Champion.
