2025 NC Main Street Champion
The City of New Bern Parks & Recreation Department is a powerhouse of community engagement, partnership, and event coordination—bringing energy and connection to downtown year-round.
From managing Union Point Park logistics to co-producing MumFest with Swiss Bear—including the MUMosa 5K, stage setups, and the iconic Mum Arch—their work draws tens of thousands annually in October.
But it doesn’t stop there. They host the Footloose on the Neuse Summer Concert Series, which drew over 6,000 attendees in 2025, and the Fourth of July Celebration at Lawson Creek Park, complete with fireworks, food, and live music.
They also bring joy through beloved traditions like the New Year’s Eve Bear Drop, Community Christmas Tree Lighting, Easter Egg Hunts, and Halloween Festivities.
Beyond city events, they support downtown collaborations like Beary Merry Christmas, Bike MS, and more—ensuring downtown New Bern remains a vibrant hub of culture and celebration, one unforgettable event at a time.
New Bern is honored to recognize their Parks & Recreation Department as its 2025 Main Street Champion.
