2025 NC Main Street Champion

“What I love most about Wake Forest is the sense of community. Everybody knows each other, helps each other, and truly looks out for one another. It’s rare and special.
I have lived in Wake Forest since January 2006. Getting involved was easy and one of the first things I did was join the Historic Preservation Commission. Since we live in a historic home, it was important to me to help preserve the character and history of our town.
I love feeling like I am contributing whether it is an event or something more long term, like the historic plaques on the buildings. Making sure we are doing everything we can to continue the vibrancy of our downtown, “said Ann Welton in an interview Wake Forest Main Street Director.
In addition to volunteering with Wake Forest Downtown, Inc. Ann added, “I have also been involved with Wake Forest Arts, the Boys & Girls Club, and I worked at the Chamber of Commerce for seven years. More recently, I joined the board for the Friends of the Senior Center. Everyone is ageing, it’s something we all have in common.
I don’t do any of this for recognition, but it feels wonderful to know I am making a difference.”
For her exceptional spirit of volunteerism downtown, Wake Forest is proud to name Ann Welton its 2025 Main Street Champion.
