Marion is a place where community spirit thrives — and people like Walt Bagwell make all the difference.
“I like the small-town feel of Marion,” Walt says. “I enjoy the slower pace, the walkability, and connecting with the residents. There’s something special about strolling down Main Street and soaking in the friendly atmosphere.”
Walt Bagwell is the kind of volunteer every Main Street director dreams of. A longtime business owner and past president of the Marion Business Association, Walt brings energy, experience, and a deep love for his hometown.
He serves on the Board of Directors, the Economic Vitality Committee, and volunteers at events year-round — from setting up vendors to emceeing the Livermush Festival.
“I want to make Marion a better place,” Walt says. “I’ve seen good things happen downtown — new businesses, festivals — and I’ve had a hand in that. I even dreamed up the Bigfoot photo spot… and now it’s there.”
For his dedication and heart, Marion proudly names Walt Bagwell its 2025 Main Street Champion.
