Sheila Crunkleton: Monroe

2025 NC Main Street Champion

Monroe Sheila Crunkleton

Sheila Crunkleton is an advocate for community growth and engagement. As Executive Director of the American Red Cross, she leads critical efforts in disaster preparedness and response, but her impact reaches far beyond her professional responsibilities.

Sheila is deeply committed to the well-being of Monroe and invests countless hours serving this community. She plays an instrumental role in community boards, including her leadership as Co-President of the Union County Rotary, serving on Union County Humane Society Board, Monroe’s Homeless and Addiction Committee, the Monroe Tourism Board, and as Co-Chair of Monroe’s Downtown Advisory Board.

As an advocate for downtown revitalization, Sheila’s passion for Monroe is personal and deeply rooted. Her mother served on the Downtown Monroe Inc. board, and Sheila proudly carries that legacy forward. “I love downtown,” Sheila says. “I love the businesses, the culture, and the community. I want downtown to be vibrant, so people want to spend time here, and businesses want to move here.”

“I hope in a small way, I’ve made a difference,” she says. And without a doubt—she has, which is why Monroe is proud to name Shelia Crunkleton its 2025 Main Street Champion.
