“Serving is the cornerstone to the community,” is Joyce’s mantra.

“Raised in a Christian home by two ministers, service has always been central to my life. I’m a firm believer that our purpose is to support and serve others—so what better way than to volunteer?” stated Joyce in a recent conversation with Garner’s Main Street Director.

Through five years on the Downtown Garner Association Board—three as Chair—Joyce has helped lead efforts in revitalization and preservation. As a retired educator, she continues to foster purpose and connection. “I take great pride in knowing I’ve worked with an organization that created initiatives like the

Downtown Garner Social District and the Business Owners Incentive Grant Program, which directly impact our downtown merchants. Volunteering with DGA gives me the opportunity to support small businesses while building social and personal connections.” stated Joyce.
