2023 NC Main Street Champion
Entrepreneur Bill O’Boyle continuously brings historic buildings back to life, creates jobs, and boosts our downtown economy. The Wilson native may have cultivated his tech career in Raleigh, but quickly realized the potential his hometown had to offer. In 2020, he decided to expand his business into Wilson, first opening in an incubator and then in a coworking space, both located downtown. Working with the downtown staff, he purchased and renovated a historic building into a beautiful office suite. In 2021 he moved his firm into this building, and due to additional business expansion, purchased another property repeating the process in 2022.
These buildings house his tech firm, a green energy company, a development firm, a retail storefront, an event venue, and a coworking space. His most recent ventures include purchasing and renovating an old gas station into a bar and purchasing three more historic commercial buildings. Bill serves on the Wilson Downtown Development Board, the Economic Vitality Committee, and the Business Recruitment Subcommittee. In addition, he received the 2023 Small Business Leader Award from the Wilson Chamber of Commerce. You can always count on Bill to be creative, positive, hardworking, and an ideal ambassador of downtown.
