Discover History Worth Repeating was conceived as a collaboration project between the towns of Edenton, Halifax and Warrenton to promote tourism in some of North Carolina’s most historic communities. The promotion highlights seminal moments in state and national history such as the Halifax Resolves that predates the Declaration of the Independence, the Colonial Tea Party in Edenton and the 19th century apogee of educational and political influence from Warrenton, to create a superlative but short list of destinations for families, history buffs, and aspiring historians.

The central piece of the project is a passport which can be stamped at historic sites, participating merchants, and hands-on activity sites. The stamped passport qualifies tourists to register online for prizes and drawings. Each stamp is unique to each merchant and site and furthers the Discover History Worth Repeating brand. Passports can be downloaded from the project website: www.historyworthrepeating.org. To date, 2,000 have been distributed. Of the $14,100 project, the Town of Warrenton invested $11,800 and the Town of Edenton invested $2,300.

This is the first passport developed between three cooperating towns, in effect “making history” as well as “repeating history”.
